The Village - History
2004 Village sign at front of Tyabb Packing House Antiques
Originally known as the Craft Village this area for artisans, crafters and other creative endeavours was envisioned by Gerard Martland.
It included pioneering work utilising re-purposed shipping containers to create spaces for the various artisans.
Laid out in late 1993 The Village's beginnings were the Tyabb Grain Store which sits at the entrance to the Village.
The Village cottage and a handful of buildings was the beginning of the structure of the Village, around the village green and playground in its centre. See more of the origins of The Village cottage here.
Much like our history of the exterior of Tyabb Packing House Antiques the Village's history, and our recording of it in photos is somewhat patchy.
From late 1990s to early 2000s "Timothy at Tyabb" a passion project of Gerard Martland operated, this small-scale train taking passengers on circuit past famous landmarks and over a suspension bridge operated.
Photos presented below are based on scans of photos from the mid-late 1990s.
Then from 2004 forwards digital photos.
